To encourage more business startup, ACRA has introduced company self incorporation With effect from 1 April 2004.

Requirements:

• At least 1 director is required (Singapore NRIC holders)
• Person who incorporate must be above 21 years old
• Application for company name - S$25 (Subject to approval)
• Company registration fee - S$300
• Use of Singpass issued by CPF board
• Appoint a secretary within 6 months (directors cannot be secretary at the same time)

Incorporation steps:

1. Determine your the nature of your business activities and corresponding Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) code. You may search for SSIC code at ACRA
2. Think of a unique business name. You can only register a business name if it is not already taken. You may go to Directory of Business and Company Names to check if the proposed name you have in mind is available or not
3. If you do not have a Singpass yet, you may apply online or go to CPF building to obtain one. This is required for you to login to bizfile
4. Log in to Bizfile >> click on local company transactions
5. Apply for company name (Some names may be refered to another authority for approval)
6. After approval of company name, You may proceed to incorporation
7. Endorsement of company incorporation

*The whole process will usually take less than a week.
